2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,000 times in 2011. If it were a cable car, it would take about 50 trips to carry that many people.

Great Books!

4 10 2011

There have been many “fads” in the Christian world over the years. The latest “fads” are perhaps those of “house church movement” and “community” and “everyone gets to talk” cells, simple, house and organic church fads.

Christians have been on the search for some “new” and fulfilling Church Life.

But, the Reality is, that EACH of those “fads” were thought to be the ultimate big deal for a few years—until it was discovered that STILL 50% of the marriages were destroyed, and 75-80% of the teens were still choosing the devil over Jesus, 50% of their men have a serious admitted addiction to deep sin, and “70% of all leaders don’t have a single person they can name as a close friend.” (Barna, Gallop, Graham, Jakes, Wilkerson, Hayford)

There is Truth in the Scriptures that will NEVER be popular, and yet will change lives by the millions for those who turn to Jesus in obedience to this Truth. There is freedom found in doing things Jesus’ way.

Some of the Answers to the tragic mess of cultural christendom lie within the pages of these books. No gimmicks, but a CROSS. Laying down our lives and sitting at Jesus’ feet…Together. Read on.

Note on Keith Giles

20 01 2011

Hi everyone,

On my second to the last article and my last one I have quoted Keith Giles on ‘servant-hood. See below to remind you.

Keith Giles says: You know that you are a ‘servant’ when someone treats you like one and you’re not offended.

But I have also share my thoughts on ‘leadership’ around it. See below.

Well I say: you know that you are a ‘leader’ when someone treats you like one and you’re not offended!!!

This is not in no way disagreeing ourselves between two identities. If his statement appears to be ‘wrong’ in your reading because of my statement then it was not the intention. The intention is both statement is valid. He is pushing servant-hood as I am in my statement.

Thanks for taking the time to read my stuff,

Molong

What a Difference the Spirit Makes

25 11 2010

In my post Two Leadership Blunders According to Jesus of November 24, 2010, I got an insightful response from Molong Nacua, who is a simple church planter on the island of Cebu in the Philippines. His post 10 MEGA-SHIFT IN MAKING DISCIPLES was the basis of my post of the same name. It was one of my most popular posts ever. This link will take you to his blog The BARKADAS of Jesus.  Now I’d like to include his insightful comments to my questions in Two Leadership Blunders According to Jesus as a post.

My Questions and Molong Nacua’s Answers

Question #1

If in Jesus’ form of leadership we don’t lead through title, position, power or personal authority; how can we be leaders?

Jesus does not promote ‘leadership’ at all, but ‘servanthood. Let the world worry about a “Saul.” Let us be Christians make Jesus our King! There is no leadership “ladder” to climb between brothers in Christ, “Who’s the greatest?” We are “brother among brothers.” Displaying your leadership “skills” towards your brother doesn’t make you “equal” in God’s family.

Question #2

In Jesus’ Kingdom do we actually lead?

Faith Expresses In Love

22 10 2010

It be more on the practical side of our story on what I am going to share to you friends and families. Bear with me for a little while, lend me your heart.

When we started ‘simple church’ back 9 years ago, it’s when I marry my beautiful wife Lisa. We both hear from God, I close my eyes and can only see her in my future. And she too was having a dream that she will marry me. This happens to us before considering to court each other. Married in 2003 of April, lost our first born son, and now has a daughter, Shirley Faith 5, and Mike Angel 8 month old.

Even when I was a single man, I do traveling already though not much til I get married. I once was in a shipwreck at 4 o’clock in the morning, where it’s only light I saw was my ship where I am to is burning with fire. Part of some painful experience is when my house got burned a couple of years after the incident, but this fire is a second time around. Yes, our house got burned twice! After then, for a year we transferred different locations. Here we are, newly married, lost a baby, house burned, doing house church, traveling, it’s crazy but its living life to the fullest!

Our Fiery Trials Are a Smokescreen For God’s Deeper Work

16 07 2010

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. “God, how could you do this to me?!” he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. “How did you know I was here?” asked the weary man of his rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied…

God is the Master of Working at a deeper level than we can conceive of at the moment of our difficulty. He IS doing things greater and more wondrous than “our little hut” can fathom. Next time things aren’t what we want them to be, will we, will you respond with WORSHIP? Will we TRUST HIM to handle whatever the situation, and KNOW He is There in that pain and difficulty, Working something beyond our hopes—if we’ll be patient and WORSHIP? : ) Important choice.
